The 10th statement of the Hippocratic Oath states “I will prevent disease whenever I can, for prevention is preferable to cure.” Limiting red meat consumption can help accomplish this.

A Brain Cancer You Might Side-Step

Brain cancer is a chilling concept for anyone, but brain glioma, with a survival rate of 5%, is terrifying. You can, however, reduce your risk by avoiding red meat.

A major cancer journal found that “people who have glioma are more likely that those without have antibodies to T. gondii (indicating that they have had a previous infection) than a similar group that was cancer-free.” T. gondii, or toxoplasmosis, is a single-cell parasite that can colonize people who eat undercooked meat.

The article states that “reducing exposure to this common food-borne pathogen could provide a modifiable risk factor for highly aggressive brain tumors in adults.”

Increase your chances of avoiding this deadly brain cancer by avoiding red meat.
